From the mountain
to the Lake

Step outside Chalet Falk and the landscapes of the Nockberge open before you. Across the seasons, the region offers remarkable variety — from skiing and winter adventures to warm Caribbean-blue lakes, exceptional golf with green fees included and some of the Alps’ most scenic cycling routes and panoramic mountain roads.

Beyond nature, Carinthia also offers a rich cultural life. Stroll through the charming old towns of Klagenfurt and Villach or visit Velden on Lake Wörthersee with its famous casino and lively lakeside atmosphere.

As Austria’s Slow Food region, Carinthia invites memorable culinary experiences — from rustic mountain huts & farmers’ markets to some of the region’s finest restaurants, or a private chef preparing a bespoke dinner in the privacy of your own chalet.

Skiing & Winter Activities in Bad Kleinkirchheim

Relaxed Skiing, away from the Rush.

The gondola and lifts of the Bad Kleinkirchheim ski resort near Chalet Falk — offering over 100 km of pistes, 24 lifts and the famous Franz Klammer World Cup downhill — are just moments away. Ski school, rental and sports shops are equally close, reachable within a one-minute drive or a relaxed ten-minute walk from the chalet.

Nearby ski areas further expand your options. Turracher Höhe, starting at 1,795 metres, is one of the most snow-reliable resorts in the region and is known for its beautifully situated pistes through ancient Swiss stone pine forests. Gerlitzen Alpe offers wide slopes and remarkable panoramic views across Lake Ossiach and Lake Wörthersee.

After a day in the snow, return to the quiet comfort and privacy of Chalet Falk.

A final note: Carinthia — and St. Oswald in particular — enjoys more than 100 additional hours of sunshine in winter than many ski regions further north in Austria. The slopes are also often noticeably quieter than in the large destinations north of the Alps.

One Pass. More Freedom. More Variety.

Beyond Bad Kleinkirchheim, several outstanding ski areas lie within easy reach. Katschberg (80 km of pistes, 17 lifts) and Nassfeld — Carinthia’s largest ski resort with 110 km of pistes and 29 lifts — are both about an hour away and ideal for day trips or for skiers looking to explore even more terrain.

Around 90 minutes from Chalet Falk, the Mölltal Glacier extends the season well into autumn and late spring, offering reliable high-alpine skiing when many other resorts have already closed.

All of these areas are covered by a single ticket: the Kärntner Skipass, which includes a total of 31 ski resorts across the region and is available from two days. It provides exceptional flexibility and variety, particularly for longer stays.

For those seeking something truly extraordinary, heli-skiing experiences can also be arranged on request, typically between January and April.

Embrace the Winter

If you are drawn to other winter experiences, the region offers a wide range of possibilities. Cross-country skiers — both classic and skating — will find beautifully groomed trails in Bad Kleinkirchheim, on the Turracher Höhe and in nearby Gnesau, winding through quiet pine forests and past frozen alpine lakes.

Winter walks and gentle hikes through the serene landscapes of the Nockberge Biosphere Reserve begin directly at the chalet. Depending on snow conditions, the same surroundings also invite ski touring, snowshoeing and traditional tobogganing.

Ice skating is another highlight of the Carinthian winter. Choose between the village’s artificial rink, the picturesque frozen Brennsee in Feld am See or the legendary Weissensee — home to Europe’s largest natural ice rink.
